TRAVEL
The festivities are located east of San Francisco in the bay front
community of Alameda. Alameda is about a half hour drive from the
city.
The Oakland
International Airport is your best bet for arriving by
air. The airport is located just fifteen minutes south of the
festivities. Southwest
Airlines is the
main carrier to Oakland.
You may want to rent a car to get
around, or you could rely on cabs (especially if you are staying
in Jack London Square). HOTELS
For convenient access to the festivities,
we recommend staying in a historic waterfront village called
Jack London Square. It's walking distance from boutiques, restaurants,
and the ferry to San Francisco. Try the Waterfront
Plaza Hotel ($$)(800)729-3638, or Jack
London Inn ($good price, but not too nice)(510)444-2032.
If you'd like a
taste of luxury, and don't mind the drive, join the bride and
groom at the Claremont
Resort & Spa ($$$). Located in the Berkeley hills, this
historic resort features the bride's favorite spot to get a massage.
(800)551-7266
Be sure to mention
you're with the Wilson-Peterson wedding party.
WEATHER
The bay area gets chilly at night, especially
on the water. Mark Twain said it best: “'The coldest winter
I ever spent was the summer I spent in San Francisco.”
For this reason, please bring a jacket
or a wrap to the ceremony.
During the day, it is usually quite pleasant, but
only the tourists wear shorts. :)

event, click here.
ACTIVITIES
Stay a few extra days
and make this a vacation! The Bay area has lots to do,
and you probably have Monday off for July 4th weekend. Check
out this online travel
guide for ideas.
Andrew and Laurie suggest a few activities
of their own:
FERRY TO SAN FRANCISCO
Just outside the Jack London Square, hop on the Ferry to
San Francisco. Take a walking tour through China Town and Fisherman's
Warf.
Be sure to hike up to Coit Tower to see where the bride and groom
walk their dog Joomi, and keep your eyes peeled for parrots.
If you stick around through the evening, try out The
Cigar Bar in North Beach for salsa dancing.
You'll think you've been transported to Cuba!
WINE TASTING
Head an hour North to the quaint town of Sonoma. Stop by Ravenswood winery to sample the bride and groom's favorite dessert wine.
For an extra dose of fun, rent bicycles.
